Herb Thurman 6/5/2013:An interview with Martinez resident Herb Thurman. Navy Diver and Captain commanding a Seagoing Tug Herb engaged in a variety of salvage operations all over the Pacific Ocean following the end of the Korean War. Herb knew Linda in Illinois when they were both kids � married her when he met her again as a young woman here in California. After the Navy, Herb traveled extensively, working for the Australian Trade Commission. He became a Master Gardener while working at the John Muir National Historic Site and developed the landscape there. Herb has planted deep roots in Martinez and his life experiences connect Martinez with the international community.
